FAQs

It can be hard to find the perfect fitting bra because no two bodies are exactly alike. But we’re here to help—and we’ve made sure to design a bra type for every body. Our Bra Guide is laid out to help you find your best bra style for your body and your desired look. From there, visit the SKIMS Bra Calculator, which includes tips for finding the right fit, like mastering your underband and bust measurements to discover your true bra size in each style.

The right bra fit is essential, not just for the look but for how your bra makes you feel.

Start by making sure your bra straps lay flat along your back and shoulder without digging into your skin. There should be no gap between the cup and your breast and no breast overflow from the cups. Everything should lay smoothly across your body. Underwire should never poke or dig into your beautiful body. As for the band, make sure it’s snug but not too tight. For much more on how a bra should fit, read our full article.

SKIMS offers a unique Unlined Minimizer Bra that is designed to reduce breast projection up to 2 inches. A bralette can be a slimming option, too: a bralette has a softer structure and no underwire, which can lend you a more subtle silhouette under clothing. An unlined bra may have a similar effect, thanks to its lack of padding. Lastly, a fitted bandeau is designed to fit tightly to the body—our SKIMS bandeau is made with two layers of our second-skin fabric—which will help hold your breasts up and in.

The true number of bras you need will vary depending on your wardrobe. At the very least, you should aim to own a few perfect silhouettes to support all of the key looks in your wardrobe—and in a couple of colorways (namely dark and light) for all occasions. For instance, a t-shirt bra is essential for button-ups and t-shirts because it stays comfortable all day and won’t show underneath. Most women also want a solid push-up bra for those moments when you want a little more oomph. Next, get a strapless bra for wearing with tanks, strapless dresses, and tube tops. And finally, a plunge bra is unbeatable when wearing low-cut tops and sexy dresses.

Whatever looks you have in your wardrobe, make sure you have bras in different hues on hand. We’ve made sure to have all bra styles ready for you.

When building your bra collection, remember to have fun. If you love the style, it’s comfortable, and it makes you feel amazing, feel free to treat yourself to more than just the practical basics. We recommend whimsical and beautiful additions to your wardrobe, like a bralette and lingerie. And, of course, you might want to try matching your bras to your underwear for when you want truly put-together outfits from start to finish.
